Safelisting your channels, also known as clearing, involves linking channels to your Universal Music for Creators account. This allows us, and the social media platforms where you upload content, to verify your license to use our music and sound effects.

Safelisting helps prevent copyright claims and IDs when publishing content. You can only safelist a channel if you have an active subscription.

How to Safelist Your Channel on Universal Music for Creators:

  1. Login to your Universal Music for Creators Account.
  2. Go to ‘My Account’ in the top right corner.
  3. Navigate to ‘Content ID’.
  4. Enter your channel IDs in the appropriate social media box. For YouTube, this will be a string of letters and numbers (not a link to your channel), for example, UCgkJ2GFkRQwb66culzyjsQA. Please see our instructions below to find this ID.

  5. Once you have added the channels you want to clear, make sure to press ‘Update’ at the bottom.

To find your YouTube channel ID, you can:

  1. Sign in to YouTube as the primary owner of the channel
  2. Click your profile picture in the top right corner
  3. Select Settings
  4. Select Advanced settings from the left-hand menu
  5. Find your channel's user and channel IDs in the Channel ID box
  6. Copy the long combination of letters and numbers

Once your channels are cleared, you are free to use our music without fear of copyright claims. Any content published while having an active Universal Music for Creators subscription will remain cleared indefinitely. If the subscription expires, new content using our tracks cannot be posted unless the subscription is renewed.
